Running out of bodily fluids and health care in NYC

Stardate 8/9/2004: Our heroine has managed to fill all her sample bottles and brings them to the diagnostic lab. They bleed her dry (5 tubes of blood) and send her on her way.

20 minutes later they call her at work and say they forgot to ask for a urine sample. Our heroine arrives, ready to supply and is asked for a 4th stool sample too. She running out of fluids and getting very annoyed. She has been asked to bring back the 4th sample today. Do these people think she can go on command?

That will be 3 visits to the lab in one day. This is how people end up presenting to doctors with serious, untreated chronic diseases. When they had minor issues to deal with, they were traumatized by the system, so they wait until the last possible minutes to be seen the next time they have a problem. Then they get diagnosed with an advanced stage of some disease that may be fatal. All because they were abused by the system.
