Protests in Bangalore
HGirl is in the house today with her Bangalore hosts, Anabi & CoffeeKuts. Citizens in Bangalore and throughout Karnataka are participating in a bundh, a work stoppage, in protest of a recent court ruling about water allocation among four southern states: Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Kerala.
In a nutshell, Karnataka is going to have to share a substanitial amount of water with its southern neighbors from the Cauvery River. Tamil Nadu is getting a lot of water due to the ruling and Karnakata is concerned that there will be water shortages.
17 years after, Cauvery will flow quietly
Protests, jubilations greet historic Cauvery water-share verdict
Karnataka braces for Cauvery ruling
Karnataka gets major Monday blues
So, HGirl and her new friends are hanging at home. Anabi and CoffeeKuts' neighborhood is earily quiet, compared with the typical noise levels. Local news is showing images of protesters at the airport and train station. It seems relatively quiet at this point, although we are seeing images of a pile of burning motorcycles inMysore. The bundh is supposed to be over at 6PM. Everything is closed, even the airport.
Those who know her know that HGirl is a big fan of protests and loves taking protest photos. However, this situation is a little different and potentially volatile, so she will be staying away and observing from the living room. Fingers crossed that everything is back to normal tomorrow. HGirl is flying out at 330 am wednesday morning.

Reminds me of traveling with you last year! minus the losing luggage, saving bird, and protest over water allocation parts.
